Global automotive seating manufacturer will upgrade its facility in Sterling Heights with support from the MSF
LANSING, Mich. – Faurecia Automotive Seating, a global automotive seating manufacturer, will upgrade its facility in Sterling Heights with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced today. The project is expected to generate more than $8 million in new private investment and add 90 new jobs.
“Faurecia’s decision to expand its Sterling Heights facility underscores Michigan’s business-friendly environment and a manufacturing talent pool that can compete with any region in the world,” said MEDC Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Nelson. “This investment will provide excellent employment opportunities for Michigan residents and will create a long-term positive impact on the local economy.”
Faurecia Automotive Seating, LLC is a subsidiary of Nanterre, France-based Faurecia, a global automotive seating, interior systems, exteriors and emission control manufacturer. Faurecia Automotive has been awarded a new contract to supply seating for an automotive OEM and plans to upgrade its facility in Sterling Heights, purchase new equipment and improve the loading dock area. The project will generate more than $8 million in capital investment and create 90 jobs, resulting in a $350,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Toledo, OH. The city of Sterling Heights has offered support to the project in the form of marketing and/or job promotional assistance. “The city of Sterling Heights is thrilled MEDC has chosen to support Faurecia’s upgrades and expansion in Sterling Heights with this significant grant funding,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “Faurecia is a first-class company and its presence in Sterling Heights solidifies our city’s manufacturing corridor as one of the premier locations in the country to expand and grow your business. We look forward to welcoming new residents to the city of Sterling Heights with the 90 new jobs this project will create.”
