LANSING, Mich. – Xcel Painting is investing in St. Joseph County with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced today. Xcel plans to establish a new facility in the village of White Pigeon, investing $1.75 million and creating 50 jobs. The company selected Michigan over a competing site in Indiana.
“Xcel’s investment in White Pigeon means good jobs for Michigan residents that could well have gone to another state,” said Jeff Mason, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the state’s chief marketing and business attraction arm that administers programs and performs due diligence on behalf of the MSF.
“The decision by Xcel to establish its operations in Michigan underscores our business-friendly environment and talented workforce,” he said.
Established in 2017, Xcel Painting, LLC has been working with Indiana-based Global Composites Inc. and other composite companies on painting front caps, rear caps and nose cones for the RV industry. Due to an increased need for a quality paint facility to supply the RV industry based on the projected growth of the RV market, Xcel Painting LLC is opening the new facility. The project is expected to generate more than $1.75 million and create 50 jobs, resulting in a $200,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
The village of White Pigeon has offered property tax abatement in support of the project. For information on careers with Xcel Painting LLC please contact the company at [email protected].
“We are thrilled to support the growth of Xcel Painting in St. Joseph County,” said Ron Kitchens, senior partner and chief executive officer of Southwest Michigan First. “The 50 jobs created by this expansion will make a great impact on the local community in the village of White Pigeon.”
