LANSING, Mich. – Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) today to announce that L&L Products, a global provider of industrial solutions, is expanding in the village of Romeo with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund.

The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of approximately $25 million and create 65 advanced manufacturing jobs, supported by a $450,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen for the project over a competing site in South Carolina.

“L&L Products is bringing $25 million of investment and creating 65 good-paying jobs in Romeo, building on our economic momentum and showing the world that Michigan has the strong workforce and economic development tools to compete for and win global businesses,” said Governor Whitmer. “I am proud of our bipartisan efforts to grow our economy, bring manufacturing and supply chains home, and create opportunity in every region of our state. Let’s keep working together to ensure we continue landing investments from around the world and competing with everyone to build on our economic strengths.”

L&L Products, Inc. is a family-owned, technology-driven business-to-business company with unique expertise in static sealing, acoustics, vibration reduction, structural reinforcements, and composite components for automotive, aerospace, commercial vehicle and other industrial applications. The company was founded in Almont, Michigan, in 1958. Today, L&L has more than 1,300 employees worldwide, locations in 16 countries, and nine manufacturing facilities. The company currently employs approximately 525 Michiganders.

The company plans to expand its production footprint in the village of Romeo to accommodate finished goods for the auto industry. The new space will include expansive warehousing facilities and room to accommodate two-shot injection molding production processes.

“We’re really proud of L&L’s 65-year history in Michigan,” said Tom Kleino, president of L&L Products Americas. “It made sense to continue expanding our Romeo campus, and we look forward to providing jobs and supporting the local community with this investment.”

“L&L Products has made Macomb their home since 1961,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel. “The planned expansion in Romeo will ensure that L&L remains a major economic driver in the north end of the county. They have been a model citizen partner helping support our community in so many ways. We want to thank the entire team at L&L, and look forward to continuing our partnerships.”

The project will bring good-paying manufacturing jobs with a longstanding employer in the region and will help ensure the company’s continued growth in Michigan. As a proud supporter of the communities where the company is based, the L&L Foundations provide educational scholarship to as many applicants as possible to help support the cost of attending a college, university, technical, trade or vocational school.

“Congratulations to the team at L&L on your continued growth and success. We appreciate your vote of confidence in the incredible talent and competitive business climate here in Michigan,” said Quentin Messer, Jr., CEO of the MEDC and President and Chair of the Michigan Strategic Fund. “We are grateful to the Governor, bi-partisan leaders in the Legislature and local officials for their continued support of the Michigan Business Development Program. We’re proud to join our local partners in supporting this longstanding Michigan company, and look forward to working together to add jobs and provide greater opportunities for our friends and neighbors in Southeast Michigan.”

The village of Romeo plans to approve a 50 percent property tax abatement in support of the project. For information on careers with L&L, visit https://www.llproducts.com/career/.

“The timing for this news couldn’t be better for the village of Romeo,” said village of Romeo President Meagan Poznanski. “L&L Products' decision to expand their business here not only provides employment opportunities for our community, but maintains their business' contribution to the growth and stability of Romeo’s industrial corridor. On behalf of the village, I would like to thank L&L for their continued representation that Romeo is a great place for businesses to develop and prosper.”
