140 New Jobs Coming to Ann Arbor with Expansion of Logistics Provider RXO Corporate Solutions
Thursday, June 8, 2023
LANSING, Mich. – Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to announce that RXO Corporate Solutions, a leading provider of asset-light transportation solutions, is expanding in Ann Arbor with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund. The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $2.35 million and create 140 jobs. Michigan was chosen for the project over competing sites in Missouri, Ohio and South Carolina. Michigan’s talent base and skilled workforce were key factors in selecting Michigan for this project.
“Today's investment by RXO will build on Michigan’s high tech strengths and create 140 good-paying jobs in Southeast Michigan,” said Governor Whitmer. “RXO’s expansion in Ann Arbor will empower us to continue growing our economy and securing a strong future for our working families. Thanks to our effective fiscal management, hardworking people, and innovative businesses, Michigan’s economy is growing with low unemployment, rising wages, and strong small businesses growth. Our future is bright, and investments like today’s by RXO will help us continue moving our state forward.”
RXO Corporate Solutions, LLC is a spin-off of XPO Logistics, one of the largest less-than-truckload (LTL) providers in North America. RXO is a tech-enabled brokerage platform that was created to separate XPO’s asset-based LTL business from its brokered transportation platform. RXO provides tech-enabled truck brokerage services with complementary solutions including managed transportation, freight forwarding and last-mile delivery. The company’s proprietary technology, RXO Connect™, connects approximately 10,000 customers with more than 100,000 independent carriers and more than 1.5 million trucks across North America.
RXO has locations in Ann Arbor, Buchanan and Southfield, with a total of 908 employees statewide. RXO intends to lease space in an office building located at 24 Frank Lloyd Wright Drive in the Domino’s Farms Office Park in Ann Arbor, where it will make improvements and invest in office furniture, security, and IT infrastructure. Tenant improvements at the facility will include two large brokerage offices with amenities such as a mother’s room, break room, and game rooms.
“Congratulations to the entire RXO team on your continued growth and success. We’re pleased to celebrate your expansion in Michigan, and we appreciate your vote of confidence in our state and in our workforce,” said MEDC Sr. Vice President of Regional Prosperity Matt McCauley. We’re proud to join our local partners as we celebrate RXO’s investment, and we look forward to working together to grow, add jobs, and provide greater opportunity for our friends and neighbors in Michigan.”
The project, supported by a $650,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant, will provide immediate logistics jobs with a growing, multi-billion-dollar company in the logistics industry and will solidify the company’s presence and future investment in the state. Ann Arbor SPARK has offered to assist the company in finding, hiring and training qualified candidates for the new positions. For information on careers with RXO, https://rxo.com/join-our-team/.
“We’re proud to expand our brokerage presence in Ann Arbor,” said RXO President of Truck Brokerage Lou Amo. “Our employees help connect shippers with thousands of contract carriers to streamline supply chains. RXO’s facilities in Michigan, including our expanded Ann Arbor office, will play a critical role in supporting our aggressive growth plans.”
“In a competitive business environment, welcoming RXO to Domino’s Farms Office Park is an important business development win for the Ann Arbor region,” said Paul Roney, President, Domino’s Farms Corporation. “We are glad their team saw the unique advantages and value Domino’s Farms can offer their employees while helping them grow their operations in Ann Arbor and appreciate the support of MEDC and Ann Arbor SPARK.”
“I am pleased to learn of the RXO Corporate Solutions expansion in the city of Ann Arbor,” said state Rep. Jennifer Conlin (D-Ann Arbor Township). “The Michigan Strategic Fund has helped provide key economic development opportunities – primarily in the form of new jobs and targeted regional investments – that help keep Michigan competitive and attractive to those who wish to operate in our great state. I look forward to seeing their growth in my home community.”
