Strategic Sites and Buildings
Team Michigan is always looking at collaborative ways to increase site readiness by controlling land, conducting comprehensive due diligence, preliminary engineering and cost estimating and beginning site preparation activities. And thanks to the state’s new incentive tools, including the Site Selection Readiness Program, Michigan is making significant investments in site preparation.
Available Real Estate and Business Investment Incentives
Michigan offers personalized assistance for businesses starting, relocating or expanding operations in the state through several programs and resources. For example, when you invest in projects that support long-term job creation and economic growth in our communities, we’re here to help. Major investments throughout the state are potentially eligible for the Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve (SOAR) Fund. A package of flexible economic development tools, including the Strategic Site Readiness Program (SSRP) and Critical Industry Program (CIP), continue to build out the strong supply chains and industry networks that make Michigan a global leader.

MI Sites Program
The MEDC launched the 2025 round of the MI Sites program on April 16, 2025, preparing to select up to 14 industrial properties for site readiness designation. MI Sites is a comprehensive site readiness program—focused on identifying, analyzing, and marketing the most developable industrial sites in Michigan. Selected properties receive access to technical training and hands-on guidance—ensuring each site moves toward enhanced readiness with confidence.

Michigan Ready Sites
In April 2025, the MEDC announced a new incentive program to aid proactive site readiness. The Michigan Ready Sites Program is a dual-tracked program with site readiness awards (“grants”) aimed at boosting Michigan’s inventory of investment-ready sites and technical assistance grants to identify and prepare sites to compete for projects through engagement of consultants, engineering firms, and other similar entities.
This program was previously known as the Build Ready Sites Program. The transition from Build Ready Sites to Michigan Ready Sites is effective as of April 22, 2025.
