Our classes, exhibitions, workshops, camps, programs, and events, in conjunction with artist, retail, and rental opportunities, have made the BBAC one of the strongest supporters of artists and art appreciators in the region. Nearly 5,000 individuals from Southeast Michigan, ranging in age from pre-school to senior citizens, benefit throughout the year from outstanding opportunities to learn about a broad and deep range of visual expression including: drawing, painting (oil, acrylic, mixed, watercolor, encaustic), sculpture, jewelry/metalsmithing, printmaking, ceramics and fiber arts. BBAC programs consistently serve as a catalyst to promote the creative process.

Brass Band of Battle Creek
Marshall CalhounThe Brass Band of Battle Creek (BBBC) is a world-class ensemble comprised of brass and percussion musicians from all over the world that perform two concerts per year at W.K. Kellogg Auditorium in Battle Creek, Michigan. The BBBC offers FREE children's concerts (K-12) and instrument performance clinics for youth (grades 8-12) twice per year during the normal concert series.
All school children's concerts are performed during the school day (either on a Thursday or a Friday prior to a regularly scheduled BBBC concert) and are held at W.K. Kellogg Auditorium. These concerts are free of charge and can accommodate up to 1900 students. Instrument performance clinics are open to grades 8-12 and are a chance for students to learn from some of the world's most famous brass and percussion musicians. Clinics are hands on experiences and students will be expected to bring and play their instrument in a group lesson setting.
Clinicians are Wycliffe Gordon (trombone), Rex Richarson (trumpet), Steven Mead (Euphonium), Lisa Bontrager (French Horn), Marty Erickson (Tuba), Alison Shaw (Percussion). Clinics are usually offered the afternoon of a regularly scheduled BBBC concert. Discounted admission to the BBBC concert is offered to clinic participants. There is no fee to participate in the clinic.
